Connect with Nature, Reconnect with Yourself

Step away from the stress of everyday life and into an immersive experience where you'll awaken your senses to the sights, sounds, smells, textures, and tastes of the forest.  Breathe, unwind, and let nature work its magic on you!

🌳 I typically work out of Delamere Forest- Cheshire, which is approximately 1 hour away from Manchester and Liverpool, and I'm currently assessing new locations across the North West.  Details of available dates and locations can be found via the link below. 🌳

Meet Your Guide

Hi! I'm Nyomi, a certified Forest Therapy Practitioner, having completed my training with Light Box CIC,  a Complementary Medical Association (CMA) registered training provider.

My greatest passions in life (other than my cats) are nature and wellness; I am a firm believer in the healing power of nature and its amazing ability to enhance overall wellbeing. It is my pleasure to guide you through an immersive experience in the heart of the forest, where through a series of slow and mindful activities we will awaken our senses to the natural world, promoting relaxation.

The space that I hold for you is free from all judgement and expectation. Simply show up as you are, whoever you are, and experience the beautiful forest environment as it is in the moment.

Disclaimer: although not traditionally 'allowed' in Forest Therapy I may get excited and tell you about some cool plants, trees, and fungi that we find along the way!

Step in to the Forest

Forest Therapy is more than just a walk in the woods. It's an immersive experience with a series of activities designed to help you to engage with the forest environment in a restorative and relaxing manner. Whether you're looking to reduce stress, improve your mental or general wellbeing, or simply wish to disconnect from the busyness of everyday life, Forest Therapy is for you! We're only just beginning to uncover the vast amount of benefits that this practice, and other nature-based interventions can provide. However, multidisciplinary research from fields such as medicine, sociology, psychology, social work, ecology and forestry have demonstrated substantial long-lasting impacts.

Some of these benefits are discussed below- but you can read more, and get links to further research on the 'What is Forest Therapy' page.

Mental Health Benefits

Forest Therapy reduces Sympathetic Nervous System- SNS (fight or flight) activity and promotes Parasympathetic Nervous System- PNS activity (rest and digest). When the SNS is chronically overstimulated, as it often is in modern life, this can lead to mental health symptoms such as anxiety, 'brain fog', and low mood. After Forest Therapy sessions, participants have not only shown reduced biological markers for SNS activation (lower levels of cortisol and adrenaline) but also self-report reduced feelings of anxiety and low mood, and in increase in feelings of relaxation and vigour.

Physical Health Benefits

Not only is getting out for a walk in the woods great for you for all of the reasons that you might expect, but Forest Therapy brings additional health benefits on top of that. The reduction in 'stress hormones' is great for our mental health and cardiovascular health, and also contributes towards one of my favourite Forest Therapy benefits- a boosted immune system. Studies have found that following Forest Therapy sessions participants had higher levels of 'Natural Killer Cells'-  a type of white blood cell capable of recognising and destroying infected or cancerous cells.

Deeper Connections

Forest Therapy offers you a space to step back from the pressures of modern life, and really reconnect with what it means to be a human being experiencing the beauty of life in the moment. Yūgen (幽玄) is a core concept in Japanese aesthetics, often translated as "mysterious profundity" or "subtle grace,". Think of the sun setting over a glistening horizon, or a quiet garden in the rain. Yūgen refers to a profound sense of inexplicable, mysterious beauty that environments such as Forests provide. This feeling transcends words, and many who participate in a Forest Therapy session experience profound and indescribable emotional reactions which evoke a deep and lasting connection to nature.

Environmental Impacts

Forest Therapy is a reciprocal relationship, and is as much about protecting the environment as it is receiving the many benefits that the natural world provides. People who experience a deep connection to nature are more likely to exhibit pro-environmental behaviours in the future. So, hugging trees really could save the planet!

It is my intention to plant a tree, either by getting involved in a planting project or by making a donation, for every session that I run.
